Narrabeen is one of Sydney's great beaches, approximately 23km north of the Sydney CBD. Narrabeen Beach itself is one of the longest of the northern beaches and a great favourite of surfboarders. The Narrabeen Lakes, a haven for waterfowl, anglers, canoeists and sail-boarders, lies directly behind the beach. The lakes are tidal and link up to the ocean through a narrow channel to the south of Narrabeen Head. Steps provide access to Narrabeen Head and a natural lookout presenting a panorama of Narrabeen Beach. The spectacular Long Reef Golf Course is at the southern end of the beach, and if you head further north you'll find the beautiful Pittwater - a boating, sailing and fishing mecca - and the very upmarket Whale and Palm beaches.
